Politics and the Church – The Church and the Liberal / Progressive / Communist Threat [Part 15]

This week we will look at two of the most successful of the goals that have been proposed by the Communists…the family and child rearing.  God’s plan included the family and parents to raise children to themselves be Godly, responsible participants in society.  Since that undermines the Communist plan it is of course included in their goals to destroy democracy and freedoms.  Shall we start?

#40   Discredit the family as an institution.  Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.  Pop culture today has redefined family as anybody united under any circumstances for the purpose of attending to life under the same roof. [Natalie Angier, “The Changing Family”, The New York Times, November 25, 2013].  We now even have ‘same sex’ marriages…hardly in God’s plan.  With the decline in support for the traditional family of mother, father, and children, the cultural and financial costs on American society have been enormous.  The birth rate among unmarried women rose 310 percent.  For teenagers (15-19 years of age), the rate grew 337 percent.  With this increase came an epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases.  About a third of the United States (110 million) currently have a sexually transmitted disease.  Medical costs from sexual promiscuity exceeds $16 billion annually.  [CDC Fact Sheet, Incidence, Prevalence, and Cost of Sexually Transmitted Infections in the United States, February 2013].  America also has some of the highest divorce rates in the world.  Easy divorce is creating problems.  With marriage now elevated to the federal-level, as demonstrated in the recent Supreme Court approval of gay marriage (2015), and, with cohabitation shrugged away as an acceptable and viable alternative to a committed relationship, rates of marriage have been dropping.  In 1960, about 72% of American adults were married.  Today it is just under 51%.  41% of first marriages in the US end in divorce; 60% of second marriages end in divorce; and, 73% of third marriages end in divorce.  (I must admit that I have been divorced twice, but I have never signed paperwork agreeing to divorce and was in both instances abandoned by my wife.  I do not believe in divorce.)  As for increased promiscuity, one measurement of change is the rising number of teen pregnancies and the demand for abortions…infant murder…that skyrocketed after Roe v. Wade.  Since 1980, national campaigns to fix this corruption have helped lower the number of abortions in America.  In 2011, the UN admonished that “…Criminals laws and other legal restrictions that reduce or deny access to family planning goods and services, or certain ‘modern’ contraceptive methods, such as emergency contraception, constitute a violation of the right to health.” [Arnand Grover, Right of Everyone to the Enjoyment of the Highest Attainable Standard of Physical and Mental Health, UN, A/66/254, August 3, 2011].  (Does this mean that if you have a neighbor who you consider a nuisance and causes you to have nerve problems, it is OK to ‘bump off’ that neighbor?)  In 2012, President Obama obeyed the UN order by forcing US insurance companies to provide free contraceptives and ‘day after’ abortion drugs to their subscribers. Detractors of family values and personal circumspection see the dissolution of traditional values as ‘progress’.  Discrediting the family is another Communist goal achieved.

#41  Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents.  Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.  Distancing children from home values is the basic theme in many sociology experiments underway today.  The policies underlying federally funded child-care programs and pre-schools perpetuate those themes of ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. (I can’t help but wonder at how many parents have contributed to this thought process through their failure in parenting.?)  Proponents of this goal believe that the most important lesson to teach children is to be responsible to the community first, and the family and home second…if at all.  Depriving a child from bonding with a parent can ruin a life.  In America today, some 30% of children live in a home without a father.  Rebecca O’Neill completed a study in 2002 about the removal of a father from the family structure.  Her results include: Children without a father struggle more in school, have more health problems, are at greater risk of being victims of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, and are more prone to run away from home.  Teens without fathers are more prone to abandon structured settings.  They are more likely to become teenage parents, have problems with their own sexuality, are more inclined to take up smoking, alcohol, drugs, act out at school, be expelled, and are more likely to drop out of school by age 16.  This demographic group is more likely to wander aimlessly through the preparatory college years, and fail to obtain qualifications for advancement in school or employment.  They are more likely to be on welfare or without a job.  They tend to have lower incomes, are apt to spend time on the street as homeless beggars, and are more likely to be engaged in criminal activity and spend time in jail.  They are also more likely to have emotional problems and health problems.  They are more likely to rotate through multiple relationships and cohabitations, and have children outside of marriage or a committed partnership.  Separating children from family and traditional values is both a goal achieved and a process that is spreading. [Rebecca O’Neill, Experiments in Living: the Fatherless Family, The Institute for the Study of Civil Society, 2002].

Intellectual and rank corruption in all three branches of government has reached fever pitch and burst into the public’s consciousness like an open shotgun wound.  If the downward slide continues much longer, the chances for survival of the republic will become far worse…fatally worse if the citizenry does not now exercise its God-given rights.  Founding Father, John Adams, predicted that it would not matter how many times the people change its rulers or forms of government, and that, without ethics, morality, and religion, there would be no lasting liberty.  The answer is no longer at the ballot box.  The preservation of our freedoms and liberties must be pursued in prayer  and active involvement in removing the intellectually bereft, dishonest, and greedy clownish despots in charge of our nation’s fate, or in…heaven forbid… more forceful ways.

Next week we will finish the 45 goals of the Communists.  We will see how the last of their goals tries to convince citizens that violent actions are the only way to correct government leadership.  The Communists have an agenda and are energized to carry it out.  We, the citizens of America, must be more energized to stop this agenda and show a strong love of God and America or we could loose the favor of both.
