Politics and the Church – The Church v. the Angel of Light [Part 6]

The Bible is the written guidance that Christians use to guide their ‘walk’ here on Earth.  If that’s the case, what does the Bible say about abortion?  The Bible says God hates abortion…in spite of the proclamations some liberals make concerning God’s approval of a woman’s choice to terminate…murder…her unborn baby.  The Bible says, “These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood.” [Proverbs 6:16-17].  Unfortunately we still have ‘pastors’ who are afraid of offending by bringing up the subject from the pulpit.  There is nothing more innocent than an unborn child.  Anyone in support of abortion is supporting something that God hates.  No matter what man or a political party might call it, “choice”, “reproductive rights”, or even constitutional rights, supporting abortion is opposing the Word of God.

A previous liberal president in defense of abortion stated referring to his own children, “if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”  Does this mean having a child is punishment?  Here’s what the Bible says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.”  [Psalm 127:3].  God trusts us with children to care for until they become adults…sometimes even beyond that.  Most problems with children, result from bad parenting or no parenting at all.  If you raise your children with liberal values, you are going to have problems.  Raising successful children involves instilling hard work, discipline, and respect for others and especially parents.  The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he {she} should go, And when he {she} is old he {she} will not depart from it.” [Proverbs 22:6].  Children are a blessing from the Lord and not to be murdered just because they present an obstacle to ‘freedom’.

There are many liberals who believe that a baby should be aborted because it has a developmental disability such as Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc.  This takes the murder of an unborn baby to an even more wicked level.  Liberals believe not only is it OK to murder an innocent unborn defenseless baby as it is being born, but it is OK to murder an innocent unborn defenseless baby with disabilities.  What does the Bible say about relationships with others?  The Sixth Commandment says to, “honor you mother and father and your days will be long on the earth.”  It also says, “to love your neighbor as yourself.”   However, there is only one group of individuals the Bible says whose acts toward others is like doing it to Jesus Himself.  That group is the , “least among us.”  The definition of least is lowest in importance or position.  Whatever you do to the lowest, weakest and most vulnerable in society (whether good or bad) is like doing it to Jesus Himself.  The Bible says, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to me.” [Matthew 25:40].

The Bible says that when you go out of the way to help the most vulnerable in society, it is like helping Jesus.  The Scripture goes on to say that when you ignore the most vulnerable it is like turning your back on Jesus.  The Bible says, “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels…’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life,” [Matthew 25:41, 45-46].  The Scripture tells us that those that help the lowest and most vulnerable in society are given eternal life, while those that turn their back on them are given eternal punishment.  Unborn children in the womb are the most innocent and defenseless in society.  They cannot protect themselves, they do not even have a voice.  They qualify as the least and most vulnerable among us.  By aborting unborn children, they are not only being ignored, they are being murdered.  According to Scripture, aborting unborn children and unborn children with disabilities in the womb, would be like murdering Jesus Himself. It is consistent with the liberal platform that wants to remove Jesus from society.  It is those with disabilities that perhaps best demonstrate that love is the greatest gift and without love you have nothing.  It is very possibly the reason that many liberals do not believe that individuals with developmental disabilities have the right to even live.

The liberal platform portrays itself as a platform of compassion, yet it supports the murder of unborn innocent babies and unborn innocent babies with disabilities.  No person should ever be associated with the Klu Klux Klan as they have murdered innocent people based on race.  No one should ever be associated with the Nazi Party as they murdered people based on nationality.  The same is true for associating with the liberal platform as it supports the murder of innocent unborn children even as they are being born, including those with disabilities.  Our society should consider the liberal platform an abomination.  That message should come from the pulpit, delivered by pastors who are dedicated to God’s truth.

In 2016 one liberal candidate said, “I am for abortion and against the death penalty.”  A state attorney in Florida refused to pursue the death penalty in a capital murder case against a man who allegedly murdered his pregnant girlfriend and a policeman.  It took the governor to remove her from all capital cases.  Support of abortion and opposition to the death penalty is a consistent liberal position.  I would surmise that they have no problem putting to death an innocent unborn child guilty of no crime.  Such positions are contrary to the Word of God.  The Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”  [Isaiah 5:20].  The word “woe” in the Bible is a serious warning from God that there will be judgment for an action.  The Scripture says God is warning us not to call evil good and good evil or there will be severe consequences to face.  Ask yourself…is it “progressive” or “regressive” to want to maintain the ‘right’ to kill unborn babies?  One day we will all come before God either as our judge or as our savior.

Next week we will look at a subject that will call one to question why it is associated with the Church, but it is and is addressed in the Bible?  It’s another subject many pastors try to avoid because it may be too controversial but nonetheless Christians need to be aware of…The Second Amendment; The Right to Bear Arms.
