Be always alert that the angel of light is constantly at work using deceitful tactics to destroy the work of God. What appears to be good may actually be evil and what appears to be evil may in reality be good. We see that in today’s politics and entertainment. There comes a time when society has no other choice than to cleanse itself. Scripture tells us of two times Jesus had to cleanse the temple. The first time is in the Book of John:
The Bible says,” Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business. When he had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. And He (Jesus) said to those who sold doves, ‘Takes these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!'” [John 2:13-16].
God required that the people bring animal offerings as a sacrifice for sin to the temple during Passover. The requirement was to bring your best. There had to be a consequence for your sin. However, pigeons, sheep, and oxen were being sold outside the temple as a business to the Jewish people. It was a perversion of the system of worship. The people were not bringing their best, they were not even bringing their own animals. It was lessening the consequences of sin. It is very similar to a scheme where Satan and liberal policies desire to eliminate the consequences of sin in your life. God’s house is a place of worship and it was being used as a merchandise center to make a profit.
Jesus cleansed the temple on a second occasion. The Bible says, “Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all who bought and sold in the temple. and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, ‘It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'” [Matthew 21:12-13]. The temple is a place of worship to God. There was corruption occurring in the temple. The misuse and perversion of the temple made Jesus angry…yes, Jesus got angry at misuse of the temple. The Bible also calls our physical body a temple, because we worship God from our bodies and we pray from our bodies. If our bodies are temples, we should attempt to keep them uncorrupted and holy as well. We should not be doing anything to our bodies to harm it. It is not just mind-altering drugs that we should refrain from, it is anything that harms the body. This includes cigarettes, alcohol, eating unhealthy foods, eating too much food, laziness, self-harm, suicide, etc.
The liberal platform easily leads non-believers and some believers astray regarding this issue. They are able to lead Christians astray because of lack of knowledge of the Word of God. Support of marijuana by some “Christians” is an example. Another recent sign of a lack of knowledge of the Word of God is the appearance of tattoos. I say leave the tattoos to the ‘natives of New Guinea’ , however, the Bible says, “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.” [Leviticus 19:28].
Anyone who has lived on this earth past the age of thirty, will tell you that time passes quickly. My parents have passed on and it seems like only yesterday they were here. My wife of 20 years has now been gone 23 years. I can still remember our times together as though it was yesterday. When compared to eternity, our life is just a momentary flash. The Bible says, “whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” [James 4:14]. Many have been prayed for on their death bed. There is not a person on the verge of death that has said they wished had spent more time working or chasing selfish desires. People say they wish they had spent more time with their family, wish they had done more for people, expressed their love for their children and for others…In short, they wished they had not spent their lives chasing the foolish things of the flesh, such as mind-altering drugs. There is nothing more tragic than to come to the end of life and realize we have been on the wrong course. Of course such an ending is pleasing to Satan and his minions. The Bible says, See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.’ [Ephesians 5:15-17]. Just because something is legal in man’s eye does not make it the will of God.
Next week we will move on to a study of freedom versus bondage. The liberal platform will try to get you to think the government is here to help you and take care of your needs. Don’t believe it. The Bible will tell us otherwise.
