Since the election of the Obama regime, with promises of ‘Hope and Change’, we have witnessed multibillion dollar bailouts, the nationalization of two car companies, the complete takeover of America’s healthcare industry, the appointment of more than 30 Czars, commanding huge staffs, salaries and budgets with no accountability to Congress, and an exploding national debt eroding the financial stability of the nation and the world. Recently Standard and Poors lowered America’s credit rating from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’. That means that within a two-year time period America’s AAA rating could fall and there is a one in three chance that it will. No rational person believes that such deficits are sustainable and sooner or later everyone knows the whole system will collapse if enough people do not stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough!’ During this time the affairs of our beloved nation was being run as though by a dictator of a conquered people rather than led by a duly elected President of a free people. Regardless of what the people desire, we saw the implementation of the most radically left agenda in our history….From reaching out to Muslims around the world to distancing America from Israel, a move that every sincere Bible believing Christian knows is dangerous on many levels, especially spiritually. If Pastors and Christians fail to speak out now and confront those policies with action, America will be irretrievably lost and with her, the greatest missionary sending nation in the history of the world. In the book “America Alone” author Mark Stein, a citizen of the United Kingdom, makes the case that America is the last beacon of light and freedom in the world. We are the last place on earth where true freedom is available, but as we allow government to grow in power and scope, we are losing that freedom.
Western Europe, which is now dying systemically under the weight of its welfare socialist state, where people long ago gave up personal freedoms for government provisions, sustained its enormous appetite for free everything, only because the United States funded the military safety net of the West. While Europeans were handing out free healthcare, four-day work weeks, fourteen month’s pay for twelve month’s work, extending paid leave, holidays and vacations, the United States was providing protection as the world’s police force. Now Western European nations are defaulting on loans, refusing to have babies at even the replacement rate…thanks to the abortion industry, and being invaded by radical Islam which has always had the goal of world conquest, dating back to the times of Mohammed. At this point in time Islam is winning and only America retains the means to stop them, but not for long if we fail to wake up.
Signs across America are popping up everywhere that read, “Prayer, America’s only Hope”, written over the text, ‘2 Chronicles
7:14′. What many people fail to understand is that it is not prayer that we need, but God! If we do not know the God of 2 Chronicles 7:14, nor adhere to His unchanging laws, then all the prayers in the world will not save America. Far too many Christians today are like candidate Obama, who, when confronted during his campaign for the Democratic Party’s nomination with his Pastor’s Black Marxist propaganda, which he sat under for more than 20 years, claimed he never heard such rhetoric. Either most Christians are not listening to their pastors, or their pastors are engaged in rewriting the Bible. Not until Pastor Wright’s infamous pronouncement, “Not God Bless America, but God Damn America,” was aired repeatedly on national television, did then candidate Obama decide he should leave the church. Tragically, that sermon had been preached 7 years earlier and apparently had not bothered the future President at the time. Basically, since becoming President of the United States, the Obama’s almost ceased attending any church services.
During his first two years in office, the image of America was changed dramatically around the world. The President of our country had taken it upon himself to apologize to the world, making it infinitely clear that ours is not a ‘Christian’ nation, but rather a secular country where we have one of the largest Muslim populations on earth.
“Now, the flip side is, I think that the United States and the West generally, needs to educate itself more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, that if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there has got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.” (Taken directly from the CBS website from the transcript on President Obama’s remarks in June of 2009.) Of course, Obama’s claim about the US being one of the world’s biggest Muslim nations needs to be put into truthful perspective. Don Surber of the Daily Mail points out that the United States estimated 5 million to 8 million Muslims constitute less than 3 percent of the country’s population. “By sheer number,” Surber notes, “the United States is far behind Indonesia (213 million), Pakistan (156 million), Bangladesh (127 million), and so on. At least 23 nations have more Muslims.
Apparently, a number of people are counting…especially after the New York Times ran the story, “Obama Says U.S. Could Be Seen as a Muslim Country, Too.” This president viewed our nation as a secular nation where all religions are apparently equally myth-based containing a few helpful hints for living which should be respected. Our Founders bleed and died so they could create a new government and nation based on God’s laws, which they believed were true and absolute. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and every other slant of Christianity and even atheism and secularism, has been allowed to co-exist in America, because our Founders understood true freedom, based on their Biblical world view. What other religion has produced a government and nation where such freedom was advanced and protected? No other nation in the history of man has so advanced freedom as our beloved America.
I strongly believe in American Exceptionalism. Some may see that as an arrogant expression disregarding all other nationalities. But I mean that the United States is founded on an idea, rather than upon the ambitions or notions of men. It was designed to be a nation of laws and specifically not of men, built on the concept of individual liberty and equal justice before the law, with freedoms ranging from speech to worship, and rights from gun ownership to open assembly. The Founding Fathers institutionalized these freedoms to allow individuals to do as they please within the boundaries of the law, removing all hindrance from people to succeed or fail. This new way of doing things drew men and women from the four corners of the earth, for to be an American had nothing to do with your birthright, station of life, or color of your skin, but rather commitment to those ideals.
Next week we will continue with the work that went into building a Free Nation. And yes, we will see the impact of the early church in this building project. We will explore the part Paul and Silas played while politically connected, along with their disconnect from politics. When we deal with society, we will see that as people live together, we must find a ‘healthy’ mix of both the church and politics. Only then can people live in community with each other.

“For in politics as in religion, it is equally absurd to aim at making proselytes by fire and sword. Heresies in either can rarely be cured by persecution.” (Federalist No. 1 by Alexander Hamilton)
