If you recall, in one of my previous commentaries I stated that if parents raise their children utilizing liberal policies they may be setting themselves up for trouble. Well let’s launch off into a brief synopsis of just what that might mean. Statistics show that men of African heritage commit nearly half of all murders in America, which in itself is astonishing considering they account for a small percent of the population. The majority of the murders also occur in metropolitan areas such as St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC. These metropolitan areas are run and have been run by liberal policies for decades. Statistics show that liberals receive over 90% of the African heritage vote. Just a few weeks ago there was a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio. That same week there were over twice as many murders committed in Chicago. We heard nothing about Chicago because it is so routine. Pine Hills, a section of Orlando, Florida, where minorities are the majority, has earned the name ‘Crime Hills’ because of the drugs, crime, violence, and murder. In the local Congressional elections Conservatives don’t even run because they have no chance of winning. Liberals run unopposed. This means that the residents affiliate with the liberal platforms and their messages (schemes). That message is division, jealousy, and anger. The high murder rate in metropolitan areas, murders committed primarily by men of African decent, has nothing to do with race and everything to do with liberal policy affiliation.
The Biblical answer to the fraudulent proposal of leveling the playing field and resolving the wealth gap is to just live according to your means. If you do not live within your means you are headed for financial disaster, whether you make $24,000 a year or $240,000 a year. The Bible says, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth or rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” [Matthew 6:19-21]. There are people who earn $24,000 a year that are living according to their means and live content lives. There are also people who earn $240,000 a year and do not live according to their means and live a life of stress and torment. One will find that living within one’s means, even earning less money, is a much happier life than stressing to pay for the excesses of life. Toiling away every day, because of concern of what others might think, based on what one possesses leads to no peace. It is a trap set by Satan…a trap that leads to bondage of greed and envy. The Bible says, “The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.” [Proverbs 29:25]. The meaning…worrying about what others think of you is a trap and you should trust in the Lord. ‘Meaning’ in life brings more happiness than material wealth. Again the Bible says, There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.” [ Proverbs 13:7]. Riches do not guarantee happiness and poverty does not guarantee misery. Taking from one to level the playing field for another will usually bring conflict and misery.
The Bible says we are not to covet. We are to live according to our means, that is, being content with what you have. The liberal scheme does something else. It causes covetousness. To covet is to desire that which belongs to another. The scheme of victimization and blame creates jealousy of what others have, which leads to coveting. The Tenth Commandment says, “you shall not covet“. The Bible says, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.” [Deuteronomy 5:21]. The angel of light uses envy and covetousness to divide and lead those who do into sinful ways.
Who is that neighbor? A neighbor is anyone that you encounter. You should not desire anything that belongs to someone that you are in contact with. Jesus tells us to beware of covetousness and that life does not consist of possessions. The Bible says, “And He said to them,’Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses'”. [Luke 12:1]. The opposite of coveting is being content. The Bible further says, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'” [Hebrews 13:5]. One such example of the damage coveting can do is in the Bible. King Ahab coveted (desired) a vineyard owned by a man named Naboth. King Ahab already had a palace but he also wanted a vineyard. Naboth refused to sell it. The desire for this vineyard eventually lead to murder. To covet is a dangerous sin. Resolving the wealth gap by the liberal platform is a message of coveting what other people have. It is a message of not being content with what you have, but desire what belongs to your neighbor. This is not a Godly message.
The Bible says,“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from their faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” [1 Timothy 6:6-11].
The liberal policies would want to make those who have not been ‘blessed’ with a wealth of material goods as having been wronged. The Biblical answer when you have been wronged or mistreated is to forgive. Not being blessed with a wealth of material goods does not fall into the category of being wronged. We are all born into this world under a variety of conditions and with a slew of opportunities. It’s all a matter of how we approach these opportunities. We cannot go through life blaming others for our actions and reactions. George Hebert said, “He that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach heaven; for everyone has a need to be forgiven.” Rick Warren went on further to say,”You will never be asked to forgive someone more than God has forgiven you.” Jesus is our example for forgiveness. After He was beaten, scourged, tortured, and hung on a cross to die, He forgave. The Bible says, “Then Jesus said,’Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.'” [Luke 23:34]. If we are truly sorry for our sins forgiveness is available. I, however, must wonder about those who encourage us to sin.
I will close today’s commentary on the subject that we started a few weeks ago…jealousy and abortion. The Bible shows that jealousy and coveting lead to resentment and anger which can lead to murder. As a man, I cannot get pregnant or have an abortion, so I have an obligation to not be a contributing factor in that sin. For women it is a terrible decision to have to make. What seems to be some of the top reasons to forgo a gift from God:
– Financial instability…inability to support or care for a child. This is jealousy, resenting that others will have more and that the child will not have as much as others. I might add…where’s the father in this picture?
– Negative impact on the mother’s life: interfere with the mother’s work, social life or schooling. This is jealousy and coveting the activities of others. Even with the challenges of today’s world I might ask…what about the opportunities stolen from the aborted child?
– The mother does not want to be a single parent. This is jealousy and resentment of too much of a workload. It is coveting leisure and relationships that others have…difficult to find a husband. The Bible addresses the plan for a family if only we would follow that plan. The plan never included a child before the ‘core’ family…husband and wife…was established.
All the reasons for having abortions can be classified under jealousy, resentment, and coveting what others have. Jealousy, resentment, and coveting lead to anger and anger leads to murder. What is abortion? It is murder. While the Bible may present some restrictions on what the ‘flesh’ desires to do, in the long-run it is a far better guide book for life than the liberal policies being promulgated by politicians trying to entice secular populous votes.
Next week we will look at another system driven by envy and greed…the progressive income tax system.
