Politics and the Church – The Church v. the Angel of Light [Part 20]

One would have to question just what is the role of a ‘role model’ in today’s society?  In 2017 the nation’s ‘first lady’ held up Beyonce as “a role model for all of us”.  In 2016 Beyonce performed at the Super Bowl half-time show that aired across the world.  Her performance carried an anti-police message.  Sheriffs and police universally said the Beyonce’s performance was “inciting bad behavior” and “endangering law enforcement”.  Is someone who is showcasing an anti-police message the role model that this nation needs?  Beyonce is very talented and very few minorities in America make it to her level in the entertainment industry, but wouldn’t it be better served to make a role model out of those who receive an education, worked hard, and became successful business owners, teachers, lawyers, and doctors?

A known role model in the business world once said, “The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.”  I must admit that the ‘warrior spirit’ embedded in me makes that difficult at times especially when someone is using false information to tear down my country, my fellow service members, my family, my friends, and those who are serving God.  The Bible, though, as with just about any situation in life, has something to say about divisiveness.  The Bible says, “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.  For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.”  [Romans 16:17-18].  The Bible says to avoid divisive people, because they do not serve Jesus.  They are only serving themselves.  Sometimes that means family members who can be your worse enemy.  The liberal political platform is intentionally creating divisiveness using fraudulent arguments to deceive people…doing what the Bible urges us not to do.  I write this weekly ‘essay’ not to divide but to inform.  Division is up to the reader.

God loves you.  He wants everyone to live in harmony and peace with one another.  He is our Father in Heaven.  As a parent, how would you feel if your children did not get along?  How would you feel if they were fighting each other, instead of helping each other?  It would hurt but it would be even worse if they were trying to destroy each other.  What if their conflict was so great that your children were enemies and not friends?  It would probably destroy your hopes in life.  You want peace and harmony in your life, you want your children to get along, and to help each other.  So does God!  The Bible says, “Be of the same mind toward one another.  Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.  Do not be wise in your own opinion.  Repay no one evil for evil.  Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” [Romans 12:16-18].

The Bible says that we are not to think highly of our own opinion, not to repay evil, and to live in peace with each other.  The liberal scheme of dividing people and then creating victims and seeking blame is contrary to Scripture.  Earlier I wrote of a young man in Pine Hills, Florida.  He was living a life contrary to the Word of God.  His life was in chaos and he was satisfied blaming others for his troubles.  In that section of Orlando, Florida, liberals run unopposed.  Conservatives do not even attempt to run for office in that district.  The liberals have convinced the minority population in that section of the city and in many cities like it that their predicament is not of their own making and someone else is to blame.  The liberals keep getting reelected…and nothing changes.

There have been three major African-American…I hate to use that term in describing Americans…leaders over the last 40 years in America.  All are liberals.  It’s amazing that two of the three claim the title ‘Reverend’ and yet everything they stand for is not Biblical.  How can someone with the title ‘reverend’ support division, gay marriage, and abortion?  The Bible warns about leaders like these that do more harm than good.  The Bible says, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  You will know them by their fruits.  Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” [Matthew 7:15-20].  We are all creations of God.  He gives us the ability to get through all challenges in life if we will rely on Him.  It will not always be easy but with God on your side the victory is yours.

Next week we will look at the angel of light’s proposal to ‘create a level playing field’.  He will try to make you feel sorry for yourself and willing to take…steal…from others to make life the way you want it to be, with or without effort.
