It would be nice to move on to other examples of the craziness taking place in the United States but I have run across one more that needs to be publicized. I often wonder just how many Americans know about what is taking place all around them that is destroying the basic fiber of this nation’s foundations? Enough, though, of what our youth is being put through, let’s take a look at an adult of some standing who also had to go through the ringer for beliefs counter to the liberal progressive agenda. His name…Curt Schilling.
Former All-Star pitcher Curt Schilling has offered a good number of politically incorrect statements during his career at ESPN, but it was a comment on social media that turned out to be the last straw for that sports network. Curt’s problem was with his stance against ‘men’ using the ‘ladies’ room. He shared a photo of a portly man dressed in women’s clothing, wearing a wig, and holding a purse. Along with the photo was a message: “LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die.” [Richard Sandomir,”Curt Schilling, ESPN Analyst, Is Fired Over Offensive Media Post”, The New York Times Company, April 20, 2016]. Schilling followed up with a statement of his own:”A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for [men], women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.” [Ibid]. This post sent liberals scampering for ‘safe spaces’. The Left-leaning sports network swiftly gave Schilling the heave-ho to the delight of LGBTQ activists and their cronies in sports journalism. Schilling was advised that his conduct was unacceptable. [Ibid]. Schilling joined a growing list of Americans who have been punished for rejecting the basic tenets of the gender revolution.
But previously I said we were going to look at the secular attack on Christmas…possibly the most celebrated holiday in the United States. I believe that Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season. In the secular world that makes me about as politically incorrect as they come…and proud-fully so. For an atheist this might curdle their eggnog. How can they get so worked up over something they don’t even believe is real? “Away With the Manger” seems to be their battle hymn. They mail nasty letters and threaten city halls and school systems with lawsuits. Unfortunately many municipalities and schools let the atheists win. They feel that there is such a need for political correctness that they are willing to ‘throw Christmas under the bus…school bus’. [Sarah Palin in conversation with Todd Starnes, December 2014]. Excuses vary from town to town, but most of their leadership worry about spending tax dollars on lengthy court battles…makes me wonder who is funding the atheists? Instead of standing up for their Constitutional rights, they shove Baby Jesus into storage and take down their “Merry Christmas” signs. With President Trump that is coming to an end. Up to recently the atheists have been allowed to wage their Yuletide warfare for the most part without much of a fight. Now with federal executive support town folks are starting to fight back and are ready to deck somebody’s halls and jingle somebody’s bells.
So what do we do? In the words of the great statesman Winston Churchill…his name is “Church”, love it…: “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never…in nothing, great or small, large or petty…never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” [Winston Churchill,”Never Give In”, The International Churchill Society, Speeches 1941-1945]. Did you ever think you would see the day in the United States when the so-called progressives would sell out women and the Christmas holiday for the sake of bizarre new theories? Here’s a few suggestions as to what to do:
– Fight hard. Don’t let your kid’s schools or clubs or any place endanger your youngsters. If they do, be prepared to attack. Get loud, get noisy, and don’t let anyone sell out kid’s privacy and sexual safety for some crazy notion. No organization, public or private, at any level should be allowed to get away with opening a door to abuse and harassment.
– Support God-honoring businesses
– Use humor to mock these policies. The Left cannot stand to be mocked, so go for it. We’re told that God sits in the heavens and laughs and scoffs at man’s futile efforts (Ps. 2:4), and that He is scornful toward the scorners but gives grace to the humble (Prov. 3:34).
– Go back to the Bible. Let what we are seeing today be a learning experience and an opportunity for us as Christians to return to the basics of our beliefs.
